Raymond R. Austin

Raymond Russell Austin, 86, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023.

Ray was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Moundsville, WV, son of the late William and Lola (Moris) Austin.

He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked as an electrician. Ray was a member of the First Methodist Church in Toronto and the Jefferson Ruritans for 25 yrs. He was also a Veteran of the US Army having served his country in the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianna Coburn; sisters, Ruth, Vivian, and Opal; brothers, William, Joe, and Allen.

Ray leaves behind his wife, Sylvia (Putnam) Austin; son, Randy Austin of TN; sister, Nancy (Jim) Miller; two brothers, Gene and Marion (Shirley) Austin; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Tracy) Elder, Brandi (Dennis) Rawson, and Shelby (David) Richards, Randall (Jackie) Austin, Misty (Brian) Kubicki, Justin (Marie) Austin, and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Ray will be on Wednesday Sept.20, 2023 from 11 am to 12 noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A service for Ray will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Ron Dixon and Rev. Kevin Rinkes. Burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
