Richard W. ‘Dick’ Allen, 88, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday Feb. 17, 2023, in the Trinity Medical Center West ER in Steubenville, OH.
Dick was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Toronto, son of the late George and Rachel (Carson) Allen.
Dick was a millwright, and he was retired from the Timet Corp. in Toronto. He served his country from 1955-1957, in the U.S. Army.
His memberships include the First United Methodist Church in Toronto, Toronto Masonic Lodge # 583 F&AM, Steubenville Beagle Club, and the Toronto American Legion Post #86 (life member).
In additions to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet (Sherwood) Allen (1999), his second wife, Delma (Green) Allen (2008), and his brother, Norman Allen.
Surviving is his son, Richard S. Allen of Slinger, WI; daughter, Angel Allen of Steubenville; three stepdaughters, Susan (Chelsea) Clegg, and Lynn Stuart both of Toronto, and Lori (Bryan McCourt) Stuart of Fulton, MS; five grandchildren, Sophia Allen, Rebecca Zeigler, Julia Rura, Leah Price, Hayden Saner, and several nieces and nephews ‘whom he loved’.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday Feb. 21, 2003, from 3 PM to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. His funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 11 am. Pastor Ron Dixon, Rev. Susan Clegg, and Rev. Keven Rinkes will co-officiate, and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
Masonic Services will be held Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard. Memorial donations may be made to: www.specialolympics.org / www.jefosterfh.com.
