Richard C. "Dick" Silverthorn, Sr.

TOGETHER AGAIN

Richard C. ‘Dick’ Silverthorn, Sr., 79, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dick was born Aug. 27, 1943, in E. Liverpool, OH, son of the late Carl and Madeline (Coakley) Silverthorn.

Dick was a retired Insurance Agent who owned and operated Silverthorn Insurance in Steubenville, OH. His memberships included the Richmond United Presbyterian Church, the former Jefferson Co. Family Services Board, the McCullough Children’s Home Board in Steubenville, United Way of Jefferson Co. Board, Jefferson Co. Democratic Party Board and former Treasurer, and the Toronto Lions Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy ‘E’ (Vaughn) Silverthorn.

Dick leaves behind his three children, Melissa ‘Missy’ (Mark) Phillips, Buffy Swickard, and Richard (Annie) Silverthorn, Jr., all of Toronto; sister, Patricia (Tom) Rodfong of E. Liverpool, OH; grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica), Justin, and Leslie Phillips, Madeline (Chandler Youngkin) Swickard and Chloe Swickard, Max and Andy Silverthorn; great-grandsons, Austin and Aaron Phillips; several loved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Saturday, Nov. 19 from 11 am to 3 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Dick’s funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Pastor Rob Minto will officiate, and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
