Richard Bruce Wyman, Sr., 88, of Wyngate Senior Living Community, formerly of Steubenville, OH, died Tuesday January 5, 2021 at Weirton Medical Center.

 

He was born June 1, 1932 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late David and Emma (Ricker) Wyman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly J. Wyman on Dec. 2, 2019, brother David Wyman, sister Marjorie Dollard and daughter-in-law Brenda Wyman.

 

Richard was a very proud graduate of Linsly Military Institute Class of 1950 and was very active in all the class reunions. Richard also attended Ohio State University and Tri-State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college Richard served 23 months in the US Army at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah during the Korean Conflict. After the service, he began his career with Wheeling Steel and worked at Benwood, Martins Ferry and Yorkville facilities as a Project Engineer. In 1967 continuing his engineering career he went to Titanium Metals of Toronto, OH. While there Richard was Manager of Facilities Engineering & Maintenance and was proud to have been involved in many programs involving US Air Force & GE Aircraft.

 

He was a long-time member of Starkdale Presbyterian Church and the Toronto American Legion Post 86.

 

In his retirement he enjoyed being a member of the Gadabouts, golfing at Cadiz Country Club, live Broadway Musicals, Country Music and his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

 

Surviving is his daughter, Cindy (Dave) Freshwater of Toronto; sons, Richard Jr. (Debra) of Lehigh Acres, FL and Mark (Carolyn) Tuckahoe, NJ; ten grandchildren, Mary Beth Freshwater of Weirton, WV, Mike Freshwater of Cincinnati, OH, Rich (Emily) Wyman of Carnegie, PA, Ryan Wyman of New Castle, PA, Ashley (Jeramy) Eckenrode of Canfield, OH, Rob (Jing Si) Wyman of Jersey City, NJ, Jacqueline Wyman of Elizabeth, NJ, Noel (Chuck) Wontroba of Woodbine, NJ, Zachary and Jacob Wyman of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ; great-grandchildren, twins Collin and Christopher Wyman of Lowellville, OH, Krue Wyman of New Castle, PA, Parker and Jude Eckenrode of Canfield, OH, Posie Wyman of Carnegie, PA, Paige and Zoey Wontroba of Woodbine, NJ, Jackson Hayes of Dennisville, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.

 

Friends will be received Friday, Jan. 8 from 11 AM – 1 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Richard’s Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM with Rev. G. Carl Moore officiating. Military Honors will be presented, following the service at the funeral home, by the Toronto American Legion. A private entombment will follow at Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
