Robert W. ‘Bobby’ Benner, 68, of East Springfield, OH, passed away Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 at his home.
Bobby was born June 1, 1952 in Barberton, OH, son of the late Robert H. and Shirley E. (Fowler) Benner.
Bobby started his career on the railroad with Erie-Lackawanna Railway. He worked most of his 30+ years with Conrail and later retired from Norfolk Southern where he was a Production Supervisor.
Bobby was a member of the Church of the Cross in E. Springfield. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt, fish and trap. Although he loved the outdoors, his greatest love was his family.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Paul.
Bobby leaves behind his wife, Cheryl A. (Bozin) Benner whom he married June 23, 1979; his two sons, Bo (Andrea) Benner of E. Springfield and Brian (Carrie) Benner of Bergholz, OH; his three grandchildren, Brynlee, Boen and Juliana; his sister, Cheryl (Jim) Stripe of Manchester, OH; his two brothers, Jeff (Barb) and Dennis Benner both of Barberton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 PM at the Countryside in East Springfield, OH. Friends will be received from 1 PM to 3 PM. Rev. Tom Snodgrass will officiate, and everyone is asked to wear a mask and observe social distancing protocols.
Bobby’s family would like to thank Tonnie and Lisa and the Valley Hospice staff for their care during his final days. Memorial donations may be directed to Valley Hospice or the Family House of Pittsburgh.
