Robert L. Francis

Robert L. ‘Bob’ Francis, 89, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away Monday June 29, 2020 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH.

Bob was born April 28, 1931 in Piney Fork, OH, son of the late Robert O. and Margaret E. (Hobson) Francis.

He retired from the District Maintenance Dept. of the Indian Creek School District in 1993.

Bob was a member of the Two Ridge Presbyterian Church, Jefferson Sportsman Club, Smithfield Sr. Citizens. He was a 1951 graduate of Smithfield High School and honorary member of the Belvedere Vol. Fire Dept.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy active duty from 1952-1954.

Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bernice L. (Hasley) Francis, whom he married on July 27, 1952; his son, Carl L. (Cheryl) Francis of Wintersville, OH and his daughter, Darla L. (John) Graham of New Philadelphia, OH; two grandsons, Carl (Kelley) Leonard of Sherrodsville, OH and David (Michele) Francis of Bloomingdale, OH; four great-grandchildren, Cory and Nicholas Leonard, Gracie and Trevor Francis.

Visitation will be held Thursday July 2, 2020 from 11 AM up to the time of Bob’s Funeral Service at 1 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Rev. Bill Lawrence will officiate, and burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Harrisville, OH.
