Robert Rea, Jr. Obituary

Officer Robert N. Rea, Jr., current resident of Powhatan Point, OH, but formerly from Smithfield, OH, sadly passed away early Friday morning October 8, 2021, in the University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center due to complications brought on from Covid.

Rob was born October 12, 1968, to the late Carolyn (Reed) Rea and Robert N. Rea, Sr., currently a resident of the Carriage Inn.

He was a 1987 graduate of Buckeye North High School and a Graduate of Law Enforcement from the former Jefferson Community College. He served as a fine and dedicated law enforcement officer watching over townships and villages of Wells Township, Smithfield, Rayland, Adena and currently the towns of Tiltonsville and Shadyside. He also served as a Corrections Officer for the Jefferson Co. Sheriff’s Office for several years.

Rob was a rabid fan of Nascar, Harleys and 80’s music. He had attended many races, games, and concerts throughout his life.

Along with his mother, he was also preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Mary and Leonard Reed and paternal grandparents, Harold and Gertrude Rea, many aunts and uncles from both sides of the family and another special cousin, Donnie Rea, Jr., in 2020.

Rob is survived by his significant other, Jo Anna Adams; three brothers, John (Becky) of Mingo, Jct., OH, Jeff (Kerri Ann) of Weems, and Troy (Kim) of Wintersville, OH; nieces and nephews, Ashlee, Emily, JD, Devon, Haley, Tyler, and Justice; cousin and brother, Ed Reed and many more loving aunts and cousins who reside in different parts of the country.

Rob chose to be cremated, there will be no viewing. However, his family would love all of his friends, relatives and fellow officers to join them for a Celebration of Life at the Friendship Park Pavilion on Friday, October 15, beginning at 5 pm. Kenny Kourim will preside over the service.

Rob was loved and cherished by many great friends, relatives, people of the communities he served and his fellow brothers in blue. He loved his life and serving his neighbors. For that is all he ever knew.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the surrounding Police Departments that he worked for or to the family to help them through this difficult time.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
