Robert Glen Furbee, 84, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, in the Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, OH.
Glen was born Jan. 22, 1937, in Port Homer, OH, son of the late William and Minnie (Haught) Furbee.
Glen was a proud Veteran of the US Air Force. He retired with 20 years of service, having served in the Vietnam War where he was a Master Gunner on the AC130 Gunship.
After the Air Force, Glen spent the next 20 years at Timet-Titanium Metals Plant in Toronto in the Ultrasonic Dept. He was a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church where he was a Chairman, Trustee, Treasurer of the Mens Group, member of the Choir, and a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Glen was also a member of the Irondale Masonic Lodge F&AM 461.
In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his brothers, Leroy, Daryl, Ronald and an infant brother, James, his sister, Alma Butler.
Glen leaves behind his wife, Frances A. (Keeder) Furbee whom he married Sept. 7, 1956; four daughters, Pamela Hoobler of Toronto, Mary Ann Hoobler of Hammondsville, OH, Christine Wickham of Toronto, and Glenda Frost of Grove City, OH; one son, Bob (Tonya) Furbee of Hammondsville; brother, Delbert Furbee of Hammondsville; sister, Patricia Conrad of Hammersville, OH; eleven grandchildren, Becky (Andrew) Wilson, Angie Hoobler (CL), Sarah Hoobler, Neil (Ashley) Hoobler, Mandy Wickham (Randy), Peyton Frost, Taylor Castle, Zari (Paul) Montgomery, Corey (Autumn) Furbee, Chase Furbee, and Leeah Furbee; eleven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gavin, Lyle, Emma, Logan, Kolton, Lexi, Lincoln, Gracie, Cayson, and Kayson, and two more on the way.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Bell Chapel Church followed by Glen’s funeral service at 1 PM. Pator Ryan Cockrill will officiate, and burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Toronto, OH. Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
