Rodger James Hickey, 74, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday June 4, 2022, at Trinity West Hospital, in Steubenville, OH, surrounded by his family.
Born on August 20, 1947, in Steubenville, Rodger was a son of the late Cyril and Eleanor Grygo Hickey. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rita Hickey Mosti, Mary Eleanor ‘Sis’ Shevelow, two brothers, John ‘Jack’ Hickey, Tom Hickey, and infant grandson, Joshua Spicer.
Rodger served on the US Navy USS Ashland LSD 1. He retired from First Energy Ohio Edison as a Store Supervisor with 42 years of service. Rodger's favorite past time was boating on the Ohio River, with family and friends, and tinkering in his garage.
Rodger was also a member of the Toronto American Legion Post 86 and the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles 1276, and a 1966 graduate of Toronto High School.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ford Hickey, his daughters, Kristin (Ken) Spicer of Stow, OH and Tracey McIntyre of Long Beach, CA; his two grandsons, Jaden and Tyler Spicer of Stow, OH; his sister-in-law Charlyn Mumley Hickey of Sarasota, Florida; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8 from 2 pm to 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Toronto, OH where a funeral service will follow at 6 pm. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate. Following the service Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rodger's memory to the American Heart Association.
