Solomon D. ‘Sol' Robinson, 91, of Toronto, OH, passed away Saturday Sept. 30, 2023, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.
Sol was born Sept. 6, 1932, in St. Marys, WV, son of the late Walter and Bonnie (Smith) Robinson.
He retired from the Ironworkers Local #549 in Wheeling, WV. Sol was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and the Toronto Sr. Citizens.
Sol served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Sol was preceded in death by two daughters, Debbie Sloan and Bonnie Robinson; grandson, Joshua Robinson; brother, Harold Robinson and sister, Sharon Retort.
Surviving is his wife, Violet L. ‘Dolly’ (Hilderbrand) Robinson, whom he married Aug. 31, 1973; two sons, Tom (Kathy) Robinson and Bob (Julie) Robinson both of Toronto; daughter, Mary Alice (Bill) Blackburn of Richmond, OH; stepson, Robert (Michelle) Stewart also of Richmond; two sisters, Jeannett Davis of Toronto and Jane (Robert) Plasman of Pittsburgh, PA; three brothers, Dan (Pat) Robinson of Lisbon, OH, Ken Robinson of Columbiana, OH John (Linda) Robinson of AZ; brother-in-law, Rudy Retort of Pittsburgh, PA; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday Oct. 4, 2023, from 3 pm to 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, where the funeral service will follow Thursday at 11 am. Pastor Mark Prichard will officiate and burial will take place in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.
Military Honors will be presented at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
