Stella (Humienny) Kowick passed away peacefully on Saturday April 9, 2022, at the age of 95.
Stella was born in Steubenville, OH on June 11, 1926, daughter of the late John and Petronella (Waszsiewicz) Humienny.
Stella was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, OH. She was an avid bowler and member of the Toronto and Steubenville Women’s Bowling Assoc. One of her favorite things to do was to travel to tournaments with her team. She loved her flowers as long as they didn’t smell. Stella loved to visit her family. She worked at the Toronto Tribune, the Sammis Plant, and the Pennsylvania Power Co.
In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Benedict Kowick, her daughter, Christina Kowick, and grandson Alex Kowick; her siblings, Eleanor (Stanley) Mieczkowski, Hattie (John) Sobolewski, Josephine (Stanley) Harasick, and John (Wanda) Humienny.
Surviving are her children, Thomas (Julie) Kowick, and Susan Clark; granddaughter, Maggie (Ross) Halleland, and great-grandchildren, Jake and Quinn Halleland, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 4 to 8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 9 am to 10 am at the St. Francis Catholic Church, followed by funeral liturgy with mass at 10 am. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate, and burial will follow in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
