Suzanne Marie (Reeves) Kresser, 51, of Wintersville, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH, surrounded by her family.

 

Suzanne was born Feb. 13, 1970 in Steubenville, daughter of Frank and Linda (Huff) Slowikowski.

 

Suzanne was a native of Toronto, OH, a 1988 graduate of Toronto High School, a 1992 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, OH, with a B.S. in Communications and also a 1993 graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science with a B.S. in Mortuary Science. She had continued to maintain her Funeral Director and Embalmers license with Ohio.

 

She joined Tri-State Financial Services as a licensed representative in 2009. Her key roles were assisting clients with Medicare planning including supplemental plans, advantage plans, and prescription drug plans; individual and group life insurance and health insurance; fixed annuities; long-term care planning, and pet insurance. In 2014, 2015 and 2016, Suzanne was recognized as the leading producer of annuities with the Slovene National Benefit Association.

 

Suzanne was a member of the Eastern Gateway Community College Foundation Board of Directors and co-chairman of the Fifty-by-Fifty Campaign for the college; a member of the Trinity Health System Foundation Board of Directors and the OSU Extension Advisory Committee, where she was recognized in 2014 as an Honorary 4H Member. She served as the Executive Director of the United Way of Jefferson Co. for seven years and was inducted into the Jefferson Society Hall of Fame in 2013. Suzanne had been active with the Jefferson Co. Chamber of Commerce for many years and completed the Chamber’s Leadership Training Program in 2005. She also served on the Chamber’s Public Speaker Series Committee. Suzanne had volunteered on the Jeff. Co. Public Investment Plan Advisory Group since 2008. She currently was serving on the Steubenville Nutcracker Village planning committee in a fundraising capacity.

 

A lifetime member of ABATE of Ohio, Region 1, Suzanne served as a Board Member and Treasurer from 2004-2009. In 2011, Suzanne received the Community Services Humanitarian Award from Quinn Memorial AME Church and in 2016 was nominated for Woman of the Year by the Ohio Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club.

 

Suzanne was a former member of the Steubenville Rotary Club where she served on the Board of Directors from 2004-2008 and 2011 and served as Club President, 2006-2007 and was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.

 

Suzanne leaves behind her parents, Frank and Linda (Huff) Slowikowski of Toronto and her best friend, Yorkshire Terrier Annie Kresser; twin-sister, Shanley (Drew) Slike of Greensburg, PA; sister, Sherri Wilson of Toronto; nieces and nephews, Rachelle Wilson (Robert Goodson) of Lake Charles, LA, Jeffrey (Hanna) Wilson of Toronto, Riley Slike of Cincinnati, OH, Ethan and Charles Slike of Greensburg, PA; great-niece, Kyla Wilson; great-nephews, Blake Wilson and River Goodson; uncles, Anthony (Yvette) Slowikowski of Stratton, OH, Dave (Mary Ann) Huff of Toronto, Bob (Kathy) Reeves and Jeff Reeves both of Toronto; aunts, Lori Stebritz of Smithfield, VA and Janis (Clint) Buchanan of Toronto.

 

Family and friends will be received Sunday, June 27 from 1 to 5 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held Monday at 11 am at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto with Rev. Fr. Thomas Vennitti as celebrant. Additional visitation Monday from 10 to 11 am in the rear of the church.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to the Toronto High School Alumni Association, Toronto High School Band or Valley Hospice.
