Thomas W. Thompson, 83, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday March 25, 2022, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.
Tom was born Aug. 29, 1938, in Toronto, son of the late Charles F. and Mary Joann (Herron) Thompson.
He was retired from Toronto City Schools with 25 years of service as a custodian. He was also a 1956 graduate of Toronto High School.
Tom served his country in the U.S. Air Force, from 1956 to 1960, as a communications maintenance specialist, stationed in Turkey and Tripoli, Libya.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his companion, Patricia Kestner, sister Judith Davis, and brother Charles Thompson.
Surviving is his former wife, Carol A. (Shepherd) Thompson of Toronto; daughter, Susanne K. Mason of Tulsa, OK; three sons, Thomas J. Thompson of Toronto, Robert J. Thompson of New Albany, OH and Martin B. (Cristine) Thompson of Toronto; nine grandchildren, Jessica (Jake) McClain, Brien (Kasey) Thompson, Samantha, Nicholas, and Amanda (Alex) Thompson, Marika, Ashley, Tyleesha, and Devonte Mason; and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday March 28, 2022, from 3 to 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, and again Tuesday from 10 am until the time of his service at 11 am. Deacon Thomas Graham will officiate, and burial will be at the convenience of his family in the Toronto Union Cemetery.
