Veronica “Hedgie” Sutherin of Toronto, OH, passed away January 16, 2022, at The Laurels of Steubenville.
She was born May 26, 1927, in Toronto and was the daughter of the late Alek and Mary (Horkulic) Zdinak.
Veronica was a graduate of Toronto High School, Class of 1945, and was the owner of Hedgie’s Beauty Shop in Toronto for many years. She was a member of the Toronto First Church of the Nazarene and was active in the Women’s Ministry, the Choir, Sunday School and often attended the annual retreats at Hollow Rock Camp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert J. Sutherin (2001); son, William P. Sutherin (2020); sisters, Mary Tulencik, Anne Karaffa, Madge Pellior, and brothers, John, Alek, Michael, Peter, and George Zdinak.
Veronica is survived by son, Robert (Terri) Sutherin of Ocala, FL; daughter-in-law, Ruth Sutherin; sister, Helen Scalley of Toronto; and sisters-in-law, Karen (Sutherin) McGarry and Nancy Sutherin. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Shawn (Kristen) Sutherin, Shayna (Brad) Cooke, Tracy (Jason) Macedonia, David (Amy) Sutherin and Laurie Sutherin and nine great-grandchildren: Lily, Laurel, Addisyn Sutherin, Cyrus and Sage Cooke, Luca and Emilia Macedonia, and Danielle and William Sutherin.
Arrangements are in the care of J.E. Foster Funeral Home according to Veronica’s wishes. Condolences are welcome and appreciated thru her obituary on our website.
