Barbara J. (Pesta) Cook, 68, of Rayland, OH, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.
Barb was born Dec. 11, 1946 in Steubenville, daughter of the late David J. and Cecelia (Gardner) Pesta.
She was the owner of Pesta’s Market in Mingo Jct., OH, where she was a butcheress. Barb was also a floral designer at Pesta’s Country Store. Along with her husband George, they owned their family farm where they sold produce for many years. She was a very hard working, dedicated and caring person. She always had a smile and greeting for you when you walked through the door. One of her favorite things to do was to seek out unusual antiques.
Barb leaves behind her husband, George S. Cook; her three brothers, David (Patricia) Pesta, Timothy (Glenndora) Pesta and Mark (Teri) Pesta all of Rayland; her sister, Rebecca Pesta-Thomas Roush of Rayland; her three nieces, Bridget, Tiffany and Ashley; two nephews, Mark and Chris and her great-nephew Dustin.
Visitation for Barb will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 1-3 and 5-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the funeral home with Heather Long officiating. Burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. There will be additional visitation on Monday from 10 am til time of her service at 11.
