Pesta Family, we were very sadden to hear the new of Barb's passing. Pesta is more than a grocery store. Barb and others made it a place where everyone felt welcomed and respected. It really felt nice to walk into the store over the years after moving away and always being recognized and having a nice conversation. The service was given with care and generosity. Barb will truly be missed.

We are so very sorry and saddened to learn of Barb's passing. She was an amazing woman who was dedicated to her family and her store. I once wrote an article just a few short years ago for the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce on Pesta's Country Market. I watched how much Barb would put into a day of work and how she'd prepare all the fresh foods and run the deli. She was non-stop! Barb was also our neighbor and I will sure miss bumping into her now and then. Our deepest sympathies to George and all the Cook and Pesta families.

If you are lucky enough, you will run across a few people in your life that are extraordinary. Barb Pesta Cook is one such person. As Barb would say she 'went to the school of hard knocks'. Truth be told, she had forgotten more about good business than most these days would learn in a lifetime. We are going to so miss hearing Barb's greeting...."Good morning Pesta's we have Fresh green peppers 2 for a dollar, corn straight from the farm, ham salad made fresh this morning"......or having a hot cup of tea and a plate of cheese, fruit or 'crumpets' delivered to us while we browsed through the shop .....From the moment you crossed the threshold of Pesta's Country Market, and the bell rang above your head, you entered another world where you were not just a customer, you were considered family. The Wanchic family want to extend our deepest sympathy to the Cook and Pesta families. We feel that we have lost one of our own family members with Barb's passing - she was so very, very special to each of us. Heaven is so lucky to have gained a beautiful soul and we were all so lucky to have had her in our lives. When it is our time, I'm sure she'll be greeting all of us with tea and cookies as we approach the gates of heaven.

I'm so saddened by Barb's passing. I Saw her last year when I stopped by the store to pick up some things. She looked wonderful! We caught up on some. I will never forget how good she was to my mother in law, Margaret. She was beyond helpful to her. Sadly, I never got back to the store again and was just shocked to see this. I also had no idea she was ill.
Fly high Barb and make sure Linda knows you're there in heaven!

Dear Pesta Family, Barb was a beautiful soul, and I am so very sorry to read of Her passing. I will never forget the first time I was at your store, with my friend Nancy, when Barb found that we were shopping on our lunch hour, she immediately made us sandwiches (at no charge of course)! Every time I have stopped by your store, everyone is so very kind and welcoming. Your family has lost so very much this year, prayers for you all. God Bless.
