Elizabeth 'Betty' O. Podolski

Elizabeth O. ‘Betty’ Podolski, 89, of St. Clairsville, OH, formerly of Smithfield, OH, passed away Wednesday Dec. 17, 2014 in Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV.

 

Betty was born March 19, 1925 in Midway, PA, daughter of the late Omer and Helene Rebet Daudet.

 

Betty worked for many years as a bus driver for Buckeye Local School District. She was a member of St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church in Dillonvale, OH and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clairsville, OH. Betty held various offices in the Catholic Women’s Club and was a Eucharistic Minister at the former Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Smithfield. She was very active in many of her children’s activities including Little League and the Band Boosters.

 

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Podolski to whom Betty was a devoted wife for 63 years and who also passed away on Dec. 17, 2007, her daughter Maria Polsinelli in 2001, an infant daughter Kathleen, her sister Frances Yaworski and her brother Omer Daudet, Jr.

 

Surviving are her children, Deborah (Steve) Breiding of St. Clairsville, Teresa (Dave) Cybulski of Wheeling, Walter B. Podolski and his fiancé Karen Corey of Wintersville, OH, Ben (Lorraine Fedak) Podolski of St. Clairsville and her son-in-law William ‘Bill’ Polsinelli of Mingo Jct., OH. She is also survived by her faithful dog Macy, her seven grandchildren, Justin and Jeff Barlow, Terra and Keith Rogerson, Angela, William and Christina Polsinelli and two great-grandchildren; her three brothers, Donald Daudet of Avella, PA, Raymond (Darlene) Daudet of Topeka, KS and Larry (Lydia) Daudet of Cypress, TX; her four sisters, Helen Rivetti of Aliquippa, PA, Joy Wiles and Geraldine Fischer both of Pittsburgh, PA and Dolores Christian of Monaca, PA.  

 

Visitation for Betty will be held on Friday Dec. 19, 2014 from 4-8 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc. 107 Hill St in Smithfield, OH. Family and friends will gather at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale on Saturday morning where visitation will be held from 9 am til time of her Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 am. Msgr. John Kolesar will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm on Friday evening at the funeral home.
