Myrtle R. Matthews, 91, of North Canton, OH passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in the home of her daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Earl Rodd.
Myrtle, born Oct. 15, 1922, in Bloomingdale, OH to the late David and Alma Cline, lived 88 years of her life in Jefferson County Ohio. Her residence of 65 years was Weems at Smithfield Station.
Myrtle was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, LPN, and a faithful sister in the Lord as a Member of The American Sunday School Union, now known as Weems Chapel. She was a volunteer in many activities involving local churches, the All Faith Choir and the Good Samaritan Club. When she relocated to Stark County, she continued to represent our Father's kingdom to everyone who visited her.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Lester J. 'Buck' Matthews who passed in 2003; three sisters and three brothers.
Myrtle is survived by one son, Lester J. Matthews, Jr. and wife Violet of Walbridge, OH; one daughter Diane Rodd and husband Earl of N. Canton, OH; three grandsons, one granddaughter, one special friend/granddaughter, and five great grandchildren.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 11 am til 12 noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Her services will start at noon and burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Myrtle's memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
