Thomas R. Ighnat

January 17, 1930 ~ January 27, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Thomas R. Ighnat, 87, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday Jan. 27, 2017 in the Lifeline Hospital in Wintersville, OH.

 

Tom was born Jan. 17, 1930 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Liskody) Ighnat.

 

Tom worked for many years at the former Hub of Steubenville. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp, where he worked in the Electrical dept.

 

Tom also played a very important role in the success of the family business, Iggy’s Pizza and Pasta in Toronto.

 

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War.

 

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his two sisters, Clara Ighnat and Margaret Henry and by his three brothers, George, John and Joseph Ighnat.

 

Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Mary Jane (Straus) Ighnat, whom he married on June 10, 1961; his daughter, Betsy Ighant and her partner, Paige Parker of Las Cruces, NM; his three sons, Tim (Raelene) Ighnat, Paul Ighnat and Phil (Rachal) Ighnat all of from Toronto; his four grandchildren, Jessica Ighnat of Toronto, Katlynn (Allen) Browning of Columbus, OH, Nicholas and Ryan Ighnat of Toronto.

 

A Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday Jan. 29, 2017 from 1-3 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at 3 pm, with his family providing thoughts and memories. Following the service Military Honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
