Elizabeth 'Betty' (Mudron) Pope

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Pope, 85, of Savoy, IL, formerly of Toronto, OH, passed away Feb. 15, 2017 in the Champaign Urbana Nursing & Rehab Center in Savoy.

Betty was born on Sept. 30, 1931 in Toronto, daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Rock) Mudron.

She was retired from the former Unibank, where she worked as a teller for 28 yrs.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John R. ‘Jack’ Pope; her brothers, Bob and Michael Mudron; infant sister, Barbara Mudron and her four sisters, Mary Bauer, Anna Burns, Helen Welday and Madge DeJulio.

Surviving is her son, JR Pope and his fiancé, Jan Jackson, of Champaign, IL; her grandson, Logan Pope and his wife, Christine, and her great-grandson, Copley all of Banner Elk, NC; her granddaughter, Taylor Pope of Columbus, OH; her sister, Margaret ‘Marge’ Kane of Toronto and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday Feb. 21, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 6 pm with visitation continuing til 8 pm. Father Thomas Vennitti will officiate and burial will be held at the convenience of her family in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
